Just to clarify...

I know dooce, I really, really like dooce, but I was not dooced.

No one at my school, near my school, or who may have graduated from my school, knows I have a blog.

Yes, but let's get to the important question--did Rick Springfield REALLY have a fanny pack on?

Oh, man...all my teen fantasies are being shattered...say it isn't so!

There are many people in this world who'd be envious of the opportunity to vacation with Dooce. I, however, am envious she gets to vacation with YOU! My favorite displaced Midwesterner. Have a great time!

As for your job, well, like you said ... not exactly the way you envisioned leaving. A kick in the gut, yes. But what a kick in the BUTT that life's too short, that you should go out and do what makes you and your family happy.

Hey! This is, like, one of very few times that I can think of that a person would be totally justified in signing up at the classmates.com site! Let all those losers you used to go to school with know about your blog!
Good luck with the new job hunt! At least you have some time to find another job!

What an incredibly rude and thoughtless comment that was left for you on your last post. And, I agree with Anne!

I too have spent the last 1/2 hour reading your blog. Your story about your mom is amazing, heartbreaking, and hit so close to home. I feel lucky to have crossed your path.

I hope that you are correct and that you weren't dooced. I wonder if you'll ever know...

I hadn't realized that "dooced" had become a word :)

FYI, your dooced link has an extra "http://" at the beginning of it which is causing the link to work incorrectly.

Um... I thought nobody knew *I* had a blog, until the sh*t totally hit the fan and I found out hundreds of people (in this town of hundreds of people) had been reading it for months. Then I realized how completely naive I'd been, thinking nobody knew. I assumed nobody would be interested, but it only takes one person with too much time on his/her hands to type your name into google and then tell the community all about it...

I work for myself, so I can't get dooced... But my business sure can suffer from it, if it decides to go that way. I've had to decide that I just can't be as open as I'd like to be - because no matter how non-controversial I try to be, there's always going to be someone who takes something I said the wrong way, a way I couldn't even imagine. There's always somebody out there looking to be insulted.

I hope you weren't dooced... but please be aware that it's not probable that nobody knows about your blog.

It sounds like you've got a lot of people supporting this new turn in your life, though. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

Look at it as a blessing in disguise, because things like this usually turn out to be just that.

You weren't happy with the people you worked with, and dreaded going in to work every day... now you're free from all of that! You have lots of great experience and will find work elsewhere if you so desire it, and in the meantime, you get to spend time with your beautiful children and loving husband.

I've been reading for a couple of years, and have maybe commented once or twice, around the time your mom passed; knowing the "background" of your living/working/parenting situation (at least, the part you've put here on your blog), I think this is the swift kick in the butt you needed to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and find the happiness you deserve! You will make it through these struggles. You've got your health, your family and your good friends, so you're one of the richest people in the world!

Best of luck, and keep smiling!

I'm right there with Amy's comment....how COMPLETELY SURE are you that no one at work reads your blog? It doesn't even take someone with too much time on his/her hands to find a blog - just a random, lazy click: wham. Your children's names (& ages!), your location and your husband's name are all right there on the first page. Unless they are fake names, and you hired someone to pose as your daughter (very cute, by the way!).

And of course, now that Heather/Dooce has linked to you, your identity is kind of, well, right there....I've *heard* she's kind of got a huge readership....

Not that it's a bad thing. Just - you never REALLY know who's watching.

You may think no one you work with knows about your blog, but that is unfortunately naive.
