Not dead, just lazy

You know when you have so much to do, and limited time to do it in, that you always manage to get it done, and more.  I have the opposite problem.  I'm still unemployed which allows for some free time during the day.  I usually have something to clean - or an errand to run - but I fail to accomplish much of the lists I generate the night before.  I have all sorts of great ideas at night.

I'll apply to create a LLC to start my photography business.  I need to clean out the upstairs of the garage so that I have more stuff for the garage sale I'm having.  I need to plan for the garage sale.  I need to study Photoshop more.  Take classes - study it on my own.  I should wash the windows.  I should clean the floors more often.  I want to learn to cook better meals.  I should bake cookies from scratch.  I want to read more, but don't have any idea what to read.  I should work out more.  I should more aggressively look for a job.

That's about all I can think of right now.  Now I need to find ambition.  (Maybe I'll run into some at Target.)

I know, I know. Have the same problem. I have stuff to get done but I seem to waste lots of time just preparing to do something and the preparation takes all day.

First I have to check the computer about 50 million times a day, just in case someone wrote something new on a blog or there was some earthshattering news I might miss, or an email just waiting to be answered.

Then I sign up for some fabric art group to commit to something that I have to do in order not to disappoint someone else. In the meantime of course, I procrastinate on doing whatever it is until the very, very last moment.

Right now I'm committed to making a Halloween costume for a grandaughter who lives in a different state (go figure). How I'm ever going to fit it is a puzzle. Also committeed myself to a fabric art that needs to be sent to New Zealand by the end of the month, several postcards that must be made by a deadline and on and on

I do have a plus that you don't have in that I'm retired so I can be this way all the time if I want to. Apparently I want to since I do nothing to change. I'm not sure if that is better though, it gives me much more time to just mess around and get nothing done.

For reading I recommend "The Omnivore's Dilemma." Although it might send you spiraling into a moral crisis about the food you eat. Which is what it has done to me.

I'm glad you're not dead and are just BUSY, not lazy! I check daily to see if you've added more of your pictures. They really are fantastic.

Some fun, beach-type reading (even though summer is about over, boohoo), there's always Emily Giffin or Lauren Weisberger. It's not going to make you think, but that's why I love reading them. I don't have to think about my baby or running errands or accomplishing things on my long lists I make at night as well. I have 6 things on my list for tomorrow already will probably accomplish one.

As for exercise, I took a yoga class today and that counts for my weekly working out, haha. At the beginning, our instructor told us to leave everything at the door- everything that we had left on our long lists of things to do for the day, since we had somehow managed to carve out that time for ourselves. It's amazing how much I was able to get done after class, having put things into perspective like that. Good luck and don't be too hard on yourself!

No, not lazy. Definitely not lazy. Not dead either. You just need a little time, and it will all come together when you least expect it. Promise.

Target is selling ambition?

I must make a point to get over there.

When I find the motivation...

Carol! That is SO awesome! I am so proud of you (not that you care what I think, but you know).

Send me your business contact info, will you? I will keep an eye out for graphics/photog work, if you want. Sometimes folks want stuff that I just cannot do, and that would definitely count!
